The Nigel Collab

The Nigel Collab

Way back in June, I approached Jenny of Weegie Art Studio and suggested we do a collab.  I had an idea to turn her original character Nigel the Ghost, into a Limited Edition Mini Alien collection.

The idea spiralled a bit, and now we have a full collection launching Friday 13th September.  You can purchase from me here, and from Jenny here.  We both have all items available.

It's been my first big collab, and I'm really excited.  I've had lots of fun working with Jenny.

There has been a lot of trial and error.  Nigel just didn't work with my standard mini alien shape, so there were some crochet prototypes that weren't quite right.  And the yarn was hard to work with, then the eyes were too small.  But I think we got a cute monster Nigel plushie in the end.

The yarn I used has a thin strand of glittery tinsel, that's rainbow!

Like all my other Limited Edition Mini Alien collections, each plushie comes with an adoption certificate.  Unlike my other collections though (each collection has a name theme and the aliens all have individual names), these ones are all called Nigel.

As well as the plushie, we wanted something that Jenny could paint onto her iconic coasters, and that we could produce as stickers & bookmarks too.  So we worked together to come up with the Monster Nigel design.

I did the final digital drawing, and Jenny painted & scanned the purple/blue/pink watercolour background we've used on the bookmark, and in our branding & packaging.

Jenny did an absolutely astounding job with the coasters.  Look how stunning these are!  And there's a hint of glitter in the resin too.

For the bookmark, I compiled a bunch of my monsters, and some of Jenny's drawings of Nigel, for the collage on the back.  We got them with that absolutely super soft tactile velvet lamination, and they're so scrumptious.

And for the die cut sticker we got one with a glittery border, because Monster Nigel works well with glitter.

Plus, we have a bundle option, where you can get all four products and save yourself £3.

We really hope you love our collection.  We're super proud of it, and may already have inklings for a collab part 2.

PS: I was going to write about the problems with the parcels, but I'm still traumatized, so I'll add that later.
